The Global CPS4040-R-US4-M Mortise Spring Hinge does not come with installation instructions. I sent an e-mail to the manufacturer, ([...]), and they did reply with a scanned .pdf of the installation instructions.The instructions that were sent suggest using the tension rod that is included to wind the spring to increase tension. After a few turns you will bend or break the tension rod. I suggest that you use the included hex key that also shipped with the hinge, even though there is no mention of the hex key in the instructions. The hex key fits in the top of the hinge and is much easier to turn if you need a lot of tension on the spring.
The onemortise spring hinge I purchased does not provide enough closing power to make the fire door leading to my garage truly self-closing. I will order another hinge to see if two will be enough to make the door self-closing.
